This is by far the most common style of work in the restoration trade. Conventional restoration involves the introduction of new parts in the repair process. Using new components every effort is made to bring an elder piano to "as new" condition. Almost any part for a piano that is not fit to be put back into service is available from the modern restoration supply industry. About the only parts that are unavailable are the plate and case. what this means is that almost any piano can be brought back from almost any condition. This is an important consideration in the case of family heirlooms.
We offer a full range of standard restoration services:
Action work: New action parts can be fitted to almost any action, along with the replacement of the hammers. Entire sets of keys can be made to fit your piano if the originals are beyond repair, including the keyframe for an entirely new action.
Belly work: New soundboards can be fitted to the case, new bridge caps carved and pinned. new pinblocks can be installed along with new tuning pins and strings.
Finish work: The finish on an older piano is probably darkened and crazed from UV-damage. A new finish will reveal the wonderfull woods most older pianos were veneered with. We offer a complete refinishing service using nitro-cellulose laquer. Hardware is buffed or replated with nickel as appropriate.
Nothing offered on this page is unique. Many other craftsmen can offer much the same. What we do offer is experience. With 30 years, and 20 years in the trade respectivly as full-time rebuilders we bring more to the table than someone who rebuilds a piano once every three years. So we do common work uncommonly well.
