A word about the prices of Pearl River pianos: We are asked by the Pearl River people to not advertise our prices openly on the internet, as the subject tends to steer discourse away from their intrinsic high quality. As I said, the price is only the last of a long list of selling points these pianos have going for them. Nor does Pearl River provide a "manufacturers suggested retail price.", chooing rather to let each dealer decide what position they prefer in the market. As much as this is in my interest, it leaves the customer with precious little information to work with. All is not darkness, however. Larry Fine produces what I feel is the best primmer on the subject of pianos. If you are in the market, this book gives a lot of information. It is called simply "The Piano Book." Along with the main book,he also releases an annual supplement which is, in its bulk, a comparative price guide. The prices are not absolute, as they are Mr. Fine's calculations from information he has gathered. They do, however, give a good idea of reletive pricing schedules between the makes. We think it is a good starting point.
Now. as I have probably made clear before now, we are a small operation at Hampshire Piano. We have a small selection of pianos, and we want to grow. In the interest of that we are willing to make deals. We are determined to offer these pianos at the most competitive prices available. That is why I recommend Mr. Fine's book: so we can do better on the price. We encourage comparative shopping; everything you see will reflect well on us. Even if you find another Pearl River, if we can, we will make it worth the drive to shop with us. As I said, the price is just the last selling feature, but we are willing to make it one of the best. Come visit, and see what I mean.
